Hero in Coma After Saving Open Champion Brian Harman's Son From Drowning
Open champion Brian Harman's six-year-old son was rescued from a dangerous rip current at Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida in October. Two heroes, Cathy Dowdy and Crane Cantrell, responded to save the child while Harman was competing at the Asian Tour's Macau Open.
During the rescue attempt, Dowdy sustained injuries and has been in a coma since the incident. She is currently receiving care at a hospital in Savannah, Georgia, approximately 90 minutes from the Harman family's residence in St Simons.

A GoFundMe campaign for Dowdy's family has raised nearly four times its initial $20,000 target. Speaking at the RSM Classic pre-tournament conference, Harman expressed deep gratitude for the rescuers' selfless actions.
"They disregarded themselves, went into the water, saved my son - and how do you thank people like that?" Harman said. "I think that bravery and doing something like that for people who aren't your blood is just the most beautiful thing you can do in this life."
