Despite a challenging season with multiple missed cuts, Campos showed remarkable resilience during the tournament. After a slow start in the final round, he gained momentum with crucial birdies on holes 6 and 7, followed by two more on the 10th and 11th to reach 19 under par.
The victory marks a significant milestone in Campos' 14-year professional career, earning him:
- $1.2 million prize money
- Two-year PGA Tour exemption
- Invitation to the 2025 Masters
- Second Puerto Rican player to win on PGA Tour after Chi Chi Rodriguez
"After such a bad year, to have things kind of go my way, everything together at once, I'm just so happy," Campos said through tears after his victory. "I'm just grateful to be able to call myself a PGA Tour champion. It's something I've dreamed about all my life."
The win came as a surprise considering his recent form, having missed four consecutive cuts and only making two cuts in 15 starts since mid-May. However, his perseverance and improved performance during the championship week led to what he describes as the "best week of my life."
