Patrick Reed Shoots Historic 59 in Hong Kong Open Third Round

Reed's round started explosively with five consecutive birdies, followed by another birdie on the seventh hole, resulting in a front-nine score of 28. After three pars to begin the back nine, he birdied the 13th hole and then made three consecutive birdies on holes 15, 16, and 17. A final birdie on the 18th secured the historic 59.
This achievement follows John Catlin's 59 at the International Series Macau eight months ago, where Reed was actually playing alongside him. Notably, Reed achieved this remarkable score despite having what he described as "one of the worst warm-ups ever."
The former Masters champion now leads by three shots over Rashid Khan and Nitithorn Thippong, positioning himself well for his first victory since the 2021 Farmers Insurance Open and his maiden Asian Tour title.
