PGA Tour Rookie DQs After Missing Early Saturday Restart in Bermuda
Raul Pereda was disqualified from the Butterfield Bermuda Championship on Saturday morning after failing to appear for his restart tee time at 6:45 AM local time. The unusual situation occurred after Friday's second round was suspended due to darkness.
Pereda, who was four shots outside the cut line with only two holes remaining, chose to accept a DQ rather than formally withdrawing (WD) - a more common practice among PGA Tour players in similar situations. Players typically withdraw before Saturday play begins to avoid hotel costs and get an early start on travel to their next event.
The 28-year-old PGA Tour rookie faced virtually impossible odds of making the cut, needing to play his final two holes (a par-3 and par-4) in a combined four-under par to qualify for weekend play.

The tournament suspension affected just 10 players who needed to complete their second rounds. Fellow pro Paul Barjon took the traditional route, officially withdrawing minutes before Saturday's restart.
Andrew Novak and Rafael Campos currently share the lead heading into Sunday's final round at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
