A tech-focused golf league combining virtual and real gameplay will launch in January 2025, founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy in partnership with the PGA Tour. Here's everything you need to know about the TGL.

The league features six teams competing in a custom-built SoFi Center in Florida, using a massive 64x46 feet simulator and real putting greens. Each match combines simulator play for tee shots and approaches with real-life putting on 3,800 square feet of actual green space.

Format:

  • Weekly matches between two teams (3 players each)
  • 15 holes split into:
    • 9 holes of Triples (3v3 alternate shot)
    • 6 holes of Singles (head-to-head rotation)
  • Points awarded per hole
  • Two-hour matches with 40-second shot clock
  • Overtime tiebreaker using closest-to-pin format
