LIV Golf Star Jon Rahm Set For Historic Dubai Desert Classic Debut In 2025
Jon Rahm will make his debut at the Dubai Desert Classic in January 2025, joining defending champion Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood at the Emirates Golf Club. The tournament, part of the DP World Tour's Rolex Series, will run from January 16-19.
As a LIV Golf player currently suspended from the PGA Tour, Rahm can still compete in DP World Tour events while his appeal regarding fines and suspensions is ongoing. The Spaniard has maintained his European Tour membership by meeting the minimum four-event requirement this year.
"This is an event that I have heard a lot about and I am looking forward to making my Hero Dubai Desert Classic debut," said Rahm, who has previously found success in Dubai with three DP World Tour Championship victories and a Race to Dubai title in 2019.
Tournament executive director Simon Corkill highlighted the significance of Rahm's participation: "If you look back at the roll call of past winners of the event, it's clear that the Hero Dubai Desert Classic prides itself on bringing the finest players on the planet together to compete on what is a truly iconic stage."

Other LIV golfers with European Tour membership who have paid their fines include Sergio Garcia, Adrian Meronk, and Patrick Reed. The tournament represents an important opportunity for players to earn Official World Golf Ranking points and Ryder Cup points.
