Greg Norman to Step Down as LIV Golf CEO, Business Executive Scott O'Neil Taking Over
Greg Norman's anticipated departure as LIV Golf CEO marks a significant shift in professional golf's landscape. Former Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment CEO Scott O'Neil is expected to take over the position, though Norman will likely maintain a senior role within the organization.
Norman, who has led LIV Golf since its 2021 launch, became known for his confrontational approach toward the PGA Tour, frequently engaging in public disputes with Tour players, particularly Rory McIlroy. In late 2022, McIlroy notably called for Norman's removal, stating that "no one is going to talk unless there's an adult in the room that can actually try to mend fences."

The leadership change comes amid ongoing negotiations following the June 2023 Framework Agreement between the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. While O'Neil's appointment isn't finalized, sources indicate the deal is close to completion and could be announced as early as next week.
O'Neil, currently CEO of Merlin Entertainments since 2022, would take the helm as LIV Golf prepares for its 2025 season opener in Saudi Arabia this February.
