Maverick McNealy secured his first PGA Tour victory at the RSM Classic in St. Simons Island, Georgia, after 142 starts as a professional. The former top-ranked amateur closed with a two-under 70 to finish at 16 under, clinching the win with a clutch birdie putt on the final hole.


McNealy opened the tournament strongly with an eight-under 62 and maintained his composure throughout the week. The decisive moment came on the 72nd hole, where he hit his approach to 5 feet, 5 inches and sank the winning putt.

"I've hit a putt on a putting green to win a golf tournament in my mind thousands and thousands of times," McNealy told Golf Channel. "It's almost like deja vu standing over that last one — and it came off perfect."

The victory came in dramatic fashion as he edged out a trio of competitors who finished at 15 under, including Nico Echavarria, Luke Clanton, and Daniel Berger. The tournament, serving as the Tour's finale, held additional significance as the last opportunity for players to secure their position in the top 125 of the FedEx Cup Fall standings.

McNealy's journey to victory included overcoming a brief setback when he lost the lead on the back nine after a bogey on the 14th hole. However, his consistent play and clutch performance on the final hole secured his breakthrough win on the PGA Tour.
